Do you have a shot that you keep meaning to take but you never stop to do so or just never get around to it? For me, this is one of those shots. St. Martha Catholic Church is located in downtown Sarasota and I drive by it all the time. The warm glow of the iron lantern is a beacon of sorts, always calling me and piquing my interest. Finally, I answered the call and I must say seeing it up close was much better than a quick drive-by. I have another shot that I've wanted to take for years, but it would require me to get up extra early on a Friday morning. For some reason, that never seems to happen. I'll definitely let you know when it does.

The facade reminds me a bit of CA mission churches.
Yes, same here. This is lovely and it's a shame the stained glass isn't lit from the inside!
Very nice shot and angle. Love that lantern!
You have the photographer's bug for sure. There's a difference in in taking a picture and a photo. The average person would have taken a picture of the church straight on. In your case you went for a different angle and included the lamp in the foreground with your photo. You have made me curious as to what you can photograph only on a early Friday morning.
I have tons of photos I've been meaning to take. Since you've gotten around to one of yours, maybe I'll get around to one of mine. :)
Love this church. That lamp is fantastic!
looks like an old mission. I have a few places that I always want to shoot. One was an old square brick building with no windows, kind of bland really. It was used to as a water stop for the trains in the 50s. I saw last week it was gone, making way for another rain line. I should have stopped. :-(
Great composition. I know what it takes to get these shots that only happen in the right moment because I don't have the time to take them. New goal. Make the time.
Good one -- yes there are a few shots that would require me to get up at sunrise and I haven't made the leap (yet)
Nice - and worth stopping for!
Gorgeous shot SEQ, definitely worth the stop, I too like that you've not gone for the 'straight' on' approach..Yup I definitely have an early morning shot waiting...any day now haha!
Glad you stopped. This is lovely.
I can see why this beckoned you!
This shot was worth a special trip. You want to take an early Friday morning shot? I get up early. I'll call you!
