Aftermath

SDP 7-13-12
Although it's been nearly three weeks since Tropical Storm Debby stalled and dumped a foot of rain on us, signs of the aftermath are still prevalent.  Immediately after the storm passed, about a dozen boats were scattered on the beach, in the mangroves and elsewhere. All have been claimed except for these.  Typically, a notice is posted on derelict boats and after a certain amount of time if they aren't moved, the city hauls them away and destroys them.  **crunch**  I was hoping to be less busy by now so I could resume regular SDP posts.  Ah, well...the good news is...I'm making progress and feeling better.  Hope everyone is having a good summer!

That Time of Year

SDP 5-10-12
Boating season has arrived!  I snapped this shot over the weekend along Phillipi Creek.  The high and dry storage facility was lifting boats in and out of the water nonstop.  Surprisingly, though, I only saw humans. Not a single beast on a boat for my series. Fortunately, there are many more boating days ahead and many more photo opportunities of four-legged friends.

Got Life Jackets?

As the weather gets nicer and more boaters hit the waterways, the U.S. Coast Guard is out on patrol. This Coast Guard crew pulled over a recreational boat at New Pass, with a family onboard.   Usually, the U.S.C.G. is checking boat safety, including to see if there are enough life jackets on board for each passenger.  There were so many guys on the U.S.C.G. boat, though, it could have been a training exercise as well.
