Up...Again
I came this close to missing my monthly gas price photo. *whew* Well, the falling gas prices were short lived. Since last month, prices have jumped 20-cents. I don't know about you, but this summer is almost getting away from me. The video file for a project I worked on for two months suddenly became corrupted and unsalvageable. It didn't even backup properly. I've never had that happen before. After re-editing, I'm back where things went awry. But, it's looking good! (I'm memorializing an epic vacation with an epic video.) My revised goal is to finish it and be back posting regularly by the end of summer. By the way, it was 86 degrees here at 9 p.m.

Unpredictable
We're having some rather unusual weather patterns this summer. During a typical summer, the day starts out beautiful, the clouds build throughout the day and then there's a thunderstorm by late afternoon, which clears up fairly quickly. This summer it's been unpredictable. Some days it's been raining early in the morning, mid-morning, early afternoon or in the evening. I snapped this picture the other day when I was heading home for lunch --- and got caught in an unexpected downpour.

Aftermath
Although it's been nearly three weeks since Tropical Storm Debby stalled and dumped a foot of rain on us, signs of the aftermath are still prevalent. Immediately after the storm passed, about a dozen boats were scattered on the beach, in the mangroves and elsewhere. All have been claimed except for these. Typically, a notice is posted on derelict boats and after a certain amount of time if they aren't moved, the city hauls them away and destroys them. **crunch** I was hoping to be less busy by now so I could resume regular SDP posts. Ah, well...the good news is...I'm making progress and feeling better. Hope everyone is having a good summer!

Independence Day
Happy Birthday, America! While many Americans are enjoying barbecues, hotdogs, ballgames and the beach, others are reflecting on the meaning of this day and why colonists separated from the tyranny of England's King George to establish a sovereign nation protecting individual freedoms. I spotted this proud patriot, Elizabeth, hanging bunting on her home for the holiday. God bless and protect America!
