Was the crew aboard this sailboat so distracted by the breathtaking beauty of Sarasota Bay at sunset that they ran ashore? Um…no. This boat apparently came loose from its mooring during the deadly storms that rolled through Sarasota in January. It looks like someone has cast some lines and tied it down, to prevent Mother Nature from pushing it elsewhere or sinking it and causing potential environmental issues and navigational problems for other boaters. I took this shot last night at the base of the Ringling Bridge heading toward St. Armands Circle -- beautiful evening with an unexpected (and pleasant) cold front. Believe it or not, I pretty much had the place to myself. Have I mentioned how much I love to shoot the winter sky in Sarasota? The steady diet of sunset pics shall continue!

That's a No No!
I stumbled across this sailboat cordoned off all by itself in a parking lot near the 10th Street boat ramp. I don't know what the backstory is as far as how it wound up here. But, let's just say, this is a No No. Really. That's the name of the vessel. How clever!

Watery Wednesday: By Air and Sea
We're "in season" here in Sarasota. That's what we call this time of year when everyone battling cabin fever in the north descends upon the area to enjoy the gorgeous warm weather and environs. I was taking a photo of this sailboat cruising under the Ringling Bridge when I noticed an airplane descending into SRQ (that's the airport code for Sarasota which I explained further in this post last June). Yep, they're traveling by air and by sea to be in Sarasota. (And one or two might be arriving via automobile.) By the way, this is post #300 for SDP -- whoop! Watery Wednesday: Comin' About
Although it may look like these young sailors are being tossed off their little vessel, actually they were practicing their sailing skills, like coming about, on Sarasota Bay last night. I don't know for sure, but most likely they're part of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron which is located nearby and offers affordable sailing classes, lessons etc. to those who are interested.
