Manatee Easter Bunny

Manatee Easter Bunny
A sure sign that Easter is near is when the manatee mailbox down the road from me is sporting a bonnet with bunny ears.  It's the Manatee Easter Bunny!  Puts a smile on my face every time I drive by.  This is similar to the Manatee Pilgrim, which can be seen at Thanksgiving, and Santa Manatee, who arrives at Christmas and was documented by SDP staff here.  Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

Fiery Pair

SDP 2-13-12
Sure, almost anyone can have a fire hydrant in front of their house.  But, what about a fire truck mailbox to go with it?   Clever, indeed!  I wonder if a firefighter lives here....

Independence Day

SDP 7-4-11
The SDP staff is back...and just in time to celebrate the nation's 235th birthday! (Insert noisemaker sound here.) While many people will be enjoying parades, picnics and fireworks throughout the U.S. today, Uncle Sam Manatee will be keeping an eye on this mailbox (in festive attire) until mail delivery resumes tomorrow.

Encore

SDP 5-2-11
Today's post is an encore for yesterday's City Daily Photo theme day:
mailboxes.   How could I not  post this cute seahorse?!  Believe it or
not, it's just a few blocks away from the airplane mailbox, which I
featured yesterday.  Gotta love that creative artistic flair in Sarasota!

Theme Day: Mailboxes

SDP 5-1-11
It's the first day of the month and that means it's theme day in the City
Daily Photo community. Today's theme is mailboxes.  I discovered
this one in the Indian Beach-Sapphire Shores neighborhood in Sarasota.
I really like how the nose of the airplane serves as the mailbox door. Very

Santa Manatee

A sure sign Christmas is right around the corner in Sarasota is the appearance of Santa Manatee.  Ten-and-a-half-months out of the year, he's just a sea cow holding a mailbox.  But, immediately after Thanksgiving he tosses his pilgrim hat aside and transforms into Santa Manatee, which (of course) makes me smile on my way to and from work.   So, now the entire SDP staff is being dispatched to locate (and photograph) the most interesting and unusual Christmas decorations in Sarasota.  Ho...ho...ho!
