Up, Up...and Stuck

This is something I've never understood.  A perfectly good pair of sneakers flung high over a utility line.  What really caught my eye about this pair was that it was in the middle of nowhere Sarasota.  I wonder how the owner explained to his parents that he no longer has his shoes.

Looks like a pair of KSwiss. I heard it was a sign for where to find drugs.

My father would have told me to go back and get them.

I've seen this same thing in many places over the years. I think kids get bored and it's a challenge to accomplish such a feet! :-)

Where I come from (a few cities in Massachusetts) local kid gangs would do this mark their territory, so that rival groups would know were the boundary lines are. As they get older, they graduate to graffiti, and then on to other things. But, yes, the sneakers are a marker to tell others where not to cross.
