Unconditional Surrender

"Unconditional Surrender" was created by world renowned artist J. Seward Johnson in 2005 and now stands along the bayfront in downtown Sarasota.  It was modeled after Alfred Jorgensen's famous V-J Day photo of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square.  At 25 feet tall, it attracts plenty of attention in Sarasota, particularly in such an arts minded community.  While opinions on the piece are mixed, you can always find tourists taking pictures next to the statue, re-enacting it.  What do you think of it?  To see more "Unconditional Surrender" photos visit my Flickr page.

A read an article on the people in the original photo. There are many that claim to be the woman. One of the great mysteries.
