Memorial Day

Memorial Day
Sarasota National Cemetery
It was very busy yesterday afternoon at the cemetery with many people paying their respects and contemplating the sacrifices so many individuals and families have made for our nation and freedoms.  I'll be spending the morning with a true American hero: a 92-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor who endured the unimaginable...and 75 years later is quick with a joke, sharp as a tack, and willing to share his personal story to remind us freedom isn't free.  God bless him, those who have served, are serving....and those who gave all.

My dear friend Walter always said that it was so beautiful to hear "Taps" at the end of the day, when he was in HMS during WW2.How special for you to be with a dear man who served, and can tell those stories now. Freedom for us, in 2017, has been brought about by those who made huge sacrifices, that we cannot imagine. Thanks for sharing your special day with us down here.

How lovely to spend the day with this hero, and so amazing that he is still so sharp! Not too many Pearl Harbor vets left today! Definitely an event to remember
