I just love the piercing blue eyes of the white ibis. It's said that the white ibis is the first bird to return to an area immediately following a hurricane, thus, supposedly that's why the University of Miami Hurricanes have one as their mascot. On to other news...over the next few months, the SDP staff is going to be emphasizing the 'mostly' in Sarasota (mostly) Daily Photo. We're working on a huge (read: HUGE...big...really big) project and will do our best to stay in touch at least every other day or so.

Superb photo.
Beautiful shot, the reflection is gorgeous.
I'm still on sick leave. :-( Hope you had a great time.
What a striking bird!
Oooh...a huge project? Can't wait to find out what it is.
Go Gators! We don't leave during the hurricane. ;)
Keep us poster. Beautiful bird btw.
Beauty - never seen one in the flesh like this. I don't think they come north of the border for us to enjoy. I wonder if it has trouble staying so white and clean...?
I love the crisp red bill and white feather contrast. Also a nice reflection!
Great shot of this bird. :)
PS: I am sending this comment from the comfort of my sofa on my very own internet connection!!!
Great bird portrait, SRQ. Nice to see you back, even if kind of daily and kind of Sarasota. Good luck with your big, big, really big project.
I knew they had a bird for a mascot, now I now why.
Thank you for your pictures. I've enjoyed discovering something of beautiful Sarasota, but have to drop out of the loop for now. Best wishes for your blogging.
Great shot. Love the eyes and the reflection.
Darryl and Ruth :)
