The Anna Maria City Pier turned 100 years old a couple of months ago. It's a slice of old Florida, just a short drive from Sarasota, with a restaurant and a corner bar at the end. It juts into Tampa Bay and usually you'll find plenty of locals fishing for mackeral or whatever else is biting. What I really like is that there aren't any guardrails blocking the view on the backside of the building. So, be careful when reelin' in the Big One or sippin' a few cool beverages on a hot day like today.

Today I was out on a pier without railings and it made me very nervous. When did I become a scared old man???
Love it! We have a vacation home in Anna Maria and often walk to the Rod & Reel Pier for breakfast! Anna Maria is the best of Florida!

Last time I was out there, they'd taken down the sign and were building some sort of boardwalk along the water. Have they finished that up yet?
We like going up to Anna Maria for our anniversary this month. It feels like we are away on vacation and we always have to get a drink on the pier.
Years ago I saw the most incredible modernish house on the north edge of Anna Maria island and it has been my mental escape place ever since! I had no idea there was a great bar nearby.
The water looks absolutely divine!
