Big Top

What do you do in Sarasota on a cold, rainy night?  Head under a big top!  Circus Sarasota has temporarily set up three big tops with nightly performances.  In the winter, they offer family entertainment to the public.  The rest of the year, Circus Sarasota is a professional school for those interested in learning the ropes (so to speak) of the circus biz.  I was driving by last night when the bright lights and big tops lured me over for a shot, even though it was chilly, drizzly and muddy.   I could hear the ringmaster all the way in the parking lot and it sounded like the crowd was warm, dry and having fun.

I bet its stressful to try to learn how to walk the tight rope. I bet you only get to mess up once.

I think they have nets.

What endless photo ops to live in a town of circus performers!

What a pretty shot! It sounds like fun. FSU has the Flying High Circus which is one of only 2 collegiate circuses in the US. You can even take a circus class, something I always wanted to do. They have home shows in the spring so maybe I'll try to get some blog pictures then!

I can see why. That sign is colorful and magnetic enough to get me to slog through a little mud and rain too

I hope you also had a ball with your camera because this one is perfect for starters!

SRQ, I don't think the frozen northerners are going to offer much sympathy for an occasional rainy night in Sarasota. Is this circus a successor to the Ringling Brothers, who were in Sarasota for a long time?

Sounds pretty cool. I might have stopped in for the performance.

If they had kettle corn making classes there, I'd sign up for that straight away! No eating it though for at least half an hour before swinging on the trapeze.
