New & Improved

This is a small portion of the new and improved Bird Key Park.  Lots of palm trees were added, plus benches, grass, a gazebo and a bike trail which continues several miles down to Lido Key.  It's a popular place for runners, walkers and bikers to park before trekking over the Ringling Bridge.  It's also a great spot for kayakers and windsurfers to launch into the bay.  The park hasn't officially re-opened yet but it's been discovered and is getting lots of use.

Your area is so beautiful and this reminds me that we haven't been there for a long time...must correct that soon!

Sort of a classic Florida scenario - sun, outdoor fun and palm trees. What could be better?

It does look like a good spot for a run. What's all the white sticks on the trees for?

Those are stakes which help prop up the tree until it firmly takes root.

Just found your blog! I love it! My family and I were in Sarasota for one day in July to visit Ringling College of Art & Design. We took a quick drive to Lido Ley to see the beach. The whole area is beautiful! We'd love to live there someday, but for now, we'll keep checking your blog. The photos are wonderful!
