Library Buddies

This is the view looking out from the entrance of the Selby Public Library in downtown Sarasota.  I love statue that sits on a bench just outside the door.  It's called "Best Friends" by Chris Navarro -- a little boy reading a book to his dog.

I like that you caught this as a silhouette, nice contrast with the white pillars.

I usually talk and shoot at the same time while photographing strangers. I introduce myself and tell about the project first. So, really just a few minutes.

Precious and touching statue. Reminds me of a program at our library, where children who may have difficulty reading aloud in classrooms can practice with dogs and cats brought by the Humane Society.

Yes love the statue -- but I wonder who decided those columns should look like giant milk bottles? I guess it's better than boring cement pillars.

I love the angle you took this from, nice silhouette.

I love the statue, not so sure about the columns, however.

What a cool statue. The columns are interesting as well.

That is cute. But how do you know the boy is reading to the dog? Maybe it's the other way around. Dogs and getting smarter and kids...well, as a former teacher, I know a lot of them can't hardly read at all! :-)

Lovely shot!
