I could pose the question, "Why did the sandhill crane cross the road?" Fortunately, when this one crossed University Boulevard in rural Sarasota there weren't any oncoming cars.
It's awesome to see these creatures just standing in the median.
I never get tired of seeing them. There is a lady that feeds the birds in the neighborhood off from Webber and Tuttle. I drive by to pick up my daughter from school. There would always be cranes, herons, and many more all over the house, trees, laying in the yard. It was fun to see. I need to stop next time and take a photo.

very elegant looking and i am sure they cross the road slowly!
Brilliant! They look enormous.
And they look big too! Amazing creatures.
The first one is a unique street shot.
What oddly elegant creatures. We have ducks nearby and traffic comes to a complete stop while they amble across the road.

Wow! Gorgeous bird! I've seen red headed cranes in India, but their body was white.
That's really neat! Of course, we get happy if we something bigger than a lizard here! You got great shots out of that moment too.
They are amazing and so are your pictures!
