Remembering 9-11

September 11 Memorial
I was out of town over the weekend and ended up attending a September 11th memorial in Bonita Springs, about 1.5 hours south of Sarasota. It was a really nice event with hundreds from the community converging in a park to remember. (I knew I was in the right place when I spotted dozens and dozens of oversized American flags lining the park.) During the ceremony, there was a 'presenting of cover' three separate times; that is, a lone helmet was presented and placed on a table, with each one symbolizing firefighters, law enforcement and emergency services personnel who lost their lives on September 11th. It was quite poignant. This photo shows the firefighter helmet being presented.  To see more of my pics from the event click here.

Few events of the last few years touched the lives of so very many people. I know I will never forget those terrible scenes and the stories of bravery beyond the call of duty.

You captured a great series of shots.

Your slideshow is wonderful, SRQ. You have a picture of a flag in the foreground with a sleeping baby behind, which is a classic.

A perfect tribute. You caught him in lock step. Couldn't be more fitting.
