This is one of my favorite new pieces of public art in downtown Sarasota. It's called Freedom-Sky and was created by someone named Ofra Friedman. (Yes, it's a person bending backward pointing their leg, from this view, toward the Opera House.) No matter what time of day or night, or the direction you view it, it's just an incredibly captivating sculpture. It's one of twelve new pieces in downtown which are part of a new project called "Intersections". The idea was to install sculptures near prominent intersections to help attract people downtown. Next fall, one will be purchased by the city and put on permanent display. I attended the kickoff event and I plan on posting a few pictures. Usually, I shy away from series of photos from the same event, but this, I think, will be worthwhile. Stay tuned!

This is at once graceful and hilarious. How is that possible? Maybe I'm envisioning myself attempting the pose (which will never happen. A unique intersection directional if ever there was one!

Very wonderful! I just moved to Sarasota a few months ago and love all the artwork on display around town. It adds character to the city and really helps to make the entire city buzz with art and life. I've been planning to go around Downtown taking pictures of all the sculptures and artwork and seeing this shot just redoubles my desire to do so.

Thanks for encouraging me to ask for a raise. I spoke immediately with my blog's management. I got a 20% raise and a 100% bonus opportunity. Who knew this stuff would be so lucrative?
Can people put their body in that position? Sure not me. This inspires me to go out and look at public art today. Maybe I'll get a good picture.
