Sunset Dream

Myakka State Park doesn't disappoint this time of year!  Mother Nature presented another breathtaking sunset last Sunday evening.  It was especially nice because the birdwalk, where I took this photo, was virtually devoid of visitors -- just me and two others.  All you could hear was an occasional splash as a heron stabbed its bill at a fish, sandhill cranes honking, the unmistakable low rubble of alligators, and the unidentifiable caws, chirps and hoots of a variety of unseen birds. It felt so exotic yet so peaceful. This is one of the many reasons why I love this park.  Believe it or not, this photo is SOOC -- straight out of the camera.  I'm linking to Skywatch Friday.  TGIF!

Wow, gorgeous sky capture. Is Myakka State park a good place for birding? I will be there in April and might have to add this spot to my list of must see.

Wonderful photo, happy skywatching!

A couple of my best skywatch photos were taken during visits to Florida. Sunrises and sunsets are a special treat along the coast. Well done.

Great sun set. I just looked at your previous blog articles and I must say they are nice. Certainly the sea eagles. See you soon back on the blog.

Greetings,
Filip

This is gorgeous, and looks every bit as peaceful as you describe. I love the silhouetted of the bird (I, too, am wondering if that's one of the herons you mentioned), what a beautiful bonus! It's so important to have places like this, especially within densely crowded human populations, where you can go and feel like it's just you and the natural world. The spirit hungers for such places, and I'm glad you've got this wonderful park.
