Sand, Castles & Dragons

I showed up right at sunset on the last day of the master sandsculpting competition on Siesta Key over the weekend.  Wow...what a great time to be there!  About a dozen sculptures were created by artists working in teams of two.  This one, made by two guys from Texas, was my favorite.  They say the texture of the sand on Siesta is perfect for this kind of art.  I'd say you can't go wrong with that sunset either.

That's incredible and the fiery sunset is the perfect backdrop! I'm convinced that Sarasota
is a great place to live. Something awesome is always going on there. Wow!

Our sand is not nearly as good for this type of art.

Spectacular! A lot of work must have gone into this beauty.

Amazing sand sculpture. Just in time too for the new Harry Potter movie.

Wow incredible! Great photo too. These sand sculptors do some truly ingenious stuff -- and without the benefit of admiring their own work for eternity.

Great sunset picture. Siesta Key must look amazing now with those sculptures. All of your pictures of them were great on Flickr.

Superb photograph. I've been on Siesta Key. Don't remember sand sculptures but do remember a couple of nice sunsets. Excellent work!

Fort Myers Beach had a big competition a week ago, too, but I was too lazy to get over there to see them. I hear that many of the sand sculptors are really good. Your photo does this sculpture honor!
