Oystercatcher

Oystercatcher
Who can resist the the bright orange beak and orange-yellow eyes of an oystercatcher? Not me! Such a unique seabird. I spotted this guy this past weekend during a relaxing day at Lover's Key State Park near Ft. Myers Beach.  Oystercatchers prefer environs south of Sarasota, so it was fun to encounter this one....who appeared to have his head cocked and ready for his closeup.  Nice!

Nice to have you back! And this is a super shot to make your entrance with. Or with which to make your re-entry! :) Hope you and the crew are doing well and that Irma did not do any damage to your housing arrangements.

What a beautiful bird. Now all he needs is an oyster and I bet he would be happy to show off his skills.

Aren't these gorgeous birds?! Paul in Powell River (Powell River in Photos - B.C.) has posted shots of the northern version of this one - all black. Still striking, but I think yours may be even more beautiful.
