Colorful Gator

SDP 8-15-16b
After running errands yesterday afternoon, I decided to stop by Myakka River State Park and see how it's fairing with all the rain we've been receiving (roads are dry....trails are flooded, I'm told).  As you probably know, gators are a common sight here. But, a gator with a rainbow under blue skies?  Very unusual!  (If you look closely to the upper left, a second rainbow can faintly be seen trying to appear.)

The saying goes that there's a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.  So, what does it mean when a rainbow cuts across a gator's head?  (He didn't seem to mind.)  Maybe...good luck for the photographer?!

A gator and a rainbow together is rare sight indeed.

A wonderful catch! Serendipity. I'll bet one could go a lifetime and not see that again. I'm not sure about the gator head equaling a pot of gold, though. You could stick your hand out there to feel it and make sure. :)

What an unique photo. At least you are on land and at a good distance from the gator (I hope) :)

As a child, I always believed in the pot of gold, but my little legs never made it that far. Super reflection, love the settings, perfect colours.

Wonderfully framed. The gator seems aware of you.

It is a remarkable shot with the reflected rainbow. Great catch, and you were ready for it.

Nice rainbow pix, SRQ.

(I suspect the Pulaski statue is there because there are a lot of Poles in greater Hartford. Same reason there are Columbus statues everywhere . . . lots of Italians.)

Wow! Amazing shots, especially the reflections in the first one. I think the pot of gold applies to leprechauns. I wouldn't try to apply it to an alligator.
