Victory Lap

Talk about being caught with your mouth wide open!  I spotted this osprey last night slowly flying into the wind with this substantial catch at the Gulf of Mexico. I don't know what kind of fish it is; but, it seems to have an of air of surprise frozen on its lips, doesn't it?  I captured this shot with my new 18-270mm lens.  It's really cropped, and I'm rather pleased with the clarity.  I haven't had a chance to use the lens very much yet, but so far, so good!  Hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend.

Wow, great catch by you, and by the bird.

Super photo, that lens is so good, perfect focus. you were there just at the right time . " stunned mullet" saying comes to mind, as if the fish thinks, " how could this have happened?". Greetings from Jean

What a great shot! It wasn't long ago that you couldn't get sharp photos with a lens like that. But they've come a long way - 18-270mm is really terrific. I've got a Nikkor 18-200 with VR and it's a wonderful lens.

Nice to hear from you again and see that you are back shooting!

Ooooh! Great shot! Not only is the fish amazing, but I haven't seen a picture of an osprey in action like that. Your new lens is a winner on this one!

Yeah, definitely my weekend is much more pleasant than the weekend of the fish caught by the osprey.

Great shot, SRQ.

Missed you. Glad you are back! I have that same lens I think but my camera does not let it soar.

I just showed this shot to my husband, who was equally impressed, though his first comment was, "True cod."
