Car Park

SDP 4-26-12
This lifelike mural is on the side of a condo building in Burns Square in downtown.   The first time I saw it, I did a double take.   It's approximately 25-30 feet tall and the detail is amazing.  I wish I knew how the artist, a Brazilian named Eduardo Kobra, created it.  Last fall, immediately after the Chalk Festival, a community art campaign was launched called "Going Vertical" and this is part of it.  Pretty cool.  In other news, Sarasota Daily Photo will celebrate its 2nd anniversary very soon.  So, the staff whipped up a poll to find out what you'd like to see on the big day.  Look to the right (just below the banner) to find the poll...and vote!

Isn't this a blown-up photograph? I think I recognize the car...looks very much like my first car - a 1937 Chevy!

It's a fantastic mural!

This is really quite amazing. Late 30's? Early 40's? I really like that there is a modern car parked in front of it.

This has got to be one of the bet murals I've seen, the size alone is impressive but the content is fabulous. Brilliant find SRQ.

Yowza! That's just an illustration? For a second I thought it was a B&W photo. It's an interesting accessory for a car park, but I suppose it does draw in some curious customers.

I have to agree with you, that is a pretty cool mural. The mere fact that it is black and white does give it a very classic, nostalgic feel, and looking at it does kind of bring you back to the era when only the privileged were given the chance to enjoy driving these vehicles. Well, I guess that’s one thing we have to be thankful for these days – that we get to enjoy the luxury of driving our own cars!

That's what we call a classic masterpiece. The vintage sedan, as its main center piece, reminds me of the auto industry in the late 1930's to 1950's. Those were the times when the auto industries were getting innovative with their own brand of cars.

That's a stunning mural! It's actually like a production still from an old Hollywood film. Murals like this brightens up an area. I wish there would be more of this around. :D
