When was the last time, someone went to the beach and “paid” to park? Try doing this in Englewood, or St. Pete… where paid parking has been implemented for years..to help pay for services needed to run a city. And all the rhetoric whining by the City businesses, saying paid parking has hurt their business, and I’d say there are a lot of “liars” out there. Want to see a City business whine, ask them to stay open past 6:00 p.m. during “season” as Andrea - (previous downtown Sarasota Business Association President has tried unsuccessfuly tried to do). Andrea even provided “proof” that downtown businesses would almost double their income, if they were to stay open later during the height of the tourist season and the area businesses shot her idea down. Yet, they whine about the parking meters “hurting” their business. Sorry, but they’re crying to the wrong person here… Since the inception of the parking meters, they have netted over $40K - enough to keep a City worker employed for a year… The bottom line here is; while we need the City’s valuable services they provide the community, the money needs to come from somewhere… if not the meters, I’d suggest the writers contact the City Commissioners and provide some better ideas on where to get the money from… anyone? >>> “Sarasota Looks At Job Cuts” > http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20110707/ARTICLE/110709663/2416/NEWS?Title=Sarasota-may-cut-jobs-and-services-to-balance-budgetAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829127082846385987.post-19288664565023390992011-07-08T08:53:05.468-04:002011-07-08T08:53:05.468-04:00Strange!Strange!Birdmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16634185585147630883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829127082846385987.post-30347858070809218162011-07-08T07:25:33.483-04:002011-07-08T07:25:33.483-04:00at least they have a nice statue on the bag.at least they have a nice statue on the bag.Jim Klenkehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13663882561325002445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5829127082846385987.post-31819476712603592932011-07-07T22:43:00.849-04:002011-07-07T22:43:00.849-04:00Now, wait just a moment.
